BioSys offers a range of services to its members:

Collaboration projects
Bioinformatics and systems biology is all about developing new computer aided methods to analyse complex data sets and extracting from them novel information and insight. Many companies have accumulated enormous datasets of a different nature than those normally encountered in academic settings. In some cases such data could represent interesting new challenges to Bioinformatics scientist, to whom for example the many negative results in a high throughput screening may carry as valuable information as the few positive ones. Short-term BioSys collaboration projects (1-5 months) provides the perfect opportunity for members to get a feel of what Bioinformatics can do for them and we hope that they in some cases will lead to more serious long-term engagements with academic bioinformatics researchers. For more information check Projects.

Outsourcing of research projects
We can help you identify the research groups with the competences and resources best suited to meet your specific needs. We take care of the paperwork and practical details involved with due consideration of the protection of your intellectual property rights.

Training
We offer courses to our members throughout the year. Possible topics may be microarray data analysis, sequence based prediction of protein function, 3D-protein structure modeling, mapping of protein-protein interaction networks, literature mining etc. On request we can also organize closed custom designed courses working with your proprietary data sets. For examples of previous held training sessions go to Courses.

Symposia
BioSys organizes a limited number of workshops and scientific meetings with international guest speakers during the year to keep our members informed about new important developments. Some of these are organized upon the request of our members. We also organize an annual meeting open to the general public aimed at conveying the important role played by bioinformatics in life sciences and its impact on society. For an overview of some of our previous workshops and meetings, please go to Meetings.

Web servers
There is a huge amount of databases and tools for data analysis accessible on the internet. However making use of them is rarely straightforward. We can organize that you get help from expert scientists that use these web servers on a daily basis. In addition our member institutions have developed many very useful web servers that perform sequence, structure and DNA microarray based predictions that are used by researchers all over the world. Installation of these servers locally on your own computers can be arranged so that you can do your analysis in total privacy. Through BioSys you can be at the forefront of the scientific development and enjoy the benefit from the newest developed tools not yet made publicly available.

Access to complex computer infrastructure and a large number of databases
Our science institutions command state-of-the-art and very costly computer infrastructures and they maintain several relational databases that are updated on a daily basis with hundreds of different data types. As a member you can get access to this infrastructure and the opportunity to integrate data from different data sets for more efficient data analysis.

Consulting
Through BioSys you can get expert advice on most subjects related to complex data analysis, ranging from installation of hardware and databases to customized machine learning algorithms for pattern recognition.
