One of our most important activities is to facilitate agreements on short term (3-5 months) research collaborations. In such projects of mutual interest to the involved parties a member will typically provide a certain type of complex experimental data that they wish subjected to the latest type of sophisticated bioinformatics analysis – for example by integration with other data types and computer generated predictions. If successful such initial projects may lead to more long term collaborations, important personal contacts and joint scientific publications. The projects are of very different nature - a testimony to the diversity of areas where bioinformatics can make a difference in biomedical R&D.
